Journal

of the

International Association of Medical Science Educators

Instructions to Authors "Innovations in Medical Education" are intended to be a means for rapid dissemination of novel ideas in medical education, which are not yet fully supported by extensive research. "Innovations" will be published twice a year (March and October) as a supplement to the Journal of the International Association of Medical School Educators (JIAMSE) and will be posted to the website. The deadlines for submitting manuscripts for consideration are February 1 and September 1 of each year. The first issue will appear in March 2007 and submissions are expected before February 1, 2007.

Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief of JIAMSE, Dr. Peter de Jong

Each manuscript cannot exceed 350 total words. A single data entry may be included, if it is vital to the manuscript (confirming statistics comes to mind) and will not count toward the 350 word total.

There needs to be a descriptive Title and the authors with school affiliation information are listed in the order of contribution. The lead author is designated with an asterisk and the contact data for the lead author need to be posted, including telephone number, fax number and email address, same as for papers in JIAMSE.

References may be included, if considered vital to the manuscript, and must conform to the instructions for JIAMSE. Any references numbering over 3 will count toward total word count of 350.

All manuscripts will be peer reviewed and comments will be sent back to the lead author for response. Any rejected manuscripts may be resubmitted once with corrections and alterations as indicated by reviewers and editors. Manuscripts will be judged on the novel aspects of the idea, applicability to incorporation by other schools, utility to course directors, and potential for expansion into studies that will lead to educational research, which may be published as full papers later.

Copyright regulations

To maintain and protect the Author's and Association's ownership and rights and to afford educators with the opportunity to publish in JIAMSE, IAMSE requires that the senior author assign a copyright agreement to IAMSE on behalf of all the authors at the time of submission of a manuscript.

In the copyright transfer agreement signed by the author, IAMSE grants to that author and all coauthors, the rights to republish any part of their article in secondary publications (print, CD-ROM, and other electronic formats) for which they are authors, on the condition that credit is noted for the original JIAMSE publication. This copyright also extends to cover all artwork, photographs, and any other intellectual property published in the journal.
