IAMSE Ambassador Program
In an effort to promote the vision and value of IAMSE in countries that are currently underrepresented in IAMSE’s membership, IAMSE has created an Ambassador Program. Each Ambassador acts as a representative of IAMSE in their country to promote faculty development, collaborative scholarly activities, service and training through IAMSE. Through the Program we aim to facilitate the engagement of international members in IAMSE activities and initiatives, promote faculty development in medical science and health professions education through involvement in our organization, and support international collaborative efforts leading to scholarly products. The Ambassador Program is organized by the Ambassador Committee, chaired by Dr Di Eley (Australia).
Expectations of the Ambassador:
An IAMSE Ambassador is expected to assess the needs of the local community of educators in their
country and to develop activities to support these needs. To help the Ambassador develop and
execute activities, IAMSE will offer administrative support for making connections with speakers or
relevant IAMSE experts, sending announcements, etc. An Ambassador is appointed for 3 years and
commits to be an IAMSE member in good standing for the duration of the appointment. The
Ambassador will be invoiced to pay the membership fees, where IAMSE will waive the first year of
their membership fees and administer a 20% discount on membership for the remaining 2-year term.
Virtual Network (“Embassy”)
The Ambassador is encouraged (not required) to build a local virtual network of colleagues (an “Embassy”) in their own country or region to help the Ambassador develop and organize activities.
IAMSE will offer the Ambassador basic support for running their network e.g., an email listserv and
scheduling of zoom-calls. The individuals in the network are encouraged to become but do not need
to be a member of IAMSE. There are no term limits for members in the network.
